The Association of Textile Industrial Engineers (ATIE) is a national non-profit organization with members from the U.S. and Canada. The Association holds meetings, of the conference type, which usually run from noon Thursday to noon Friday. Talks, papers, workshops and discussions about various phases of industrial engineering in the textile industry are features at the meetings. One of the features is the social hour and dinner, which affords an opportunity for the members and guests to get to know each other.

ATIE was founded in 1952 as the Southern Textile Methods and Standards Association In 1971 the members of the Association voted to change the name of the organization to the Association of Textile Industrial Engineers.

The role of the Industrial Engineer has expanded into many new areas while retaining a lot of the traditional tasks. I.E.'s are now involved in all phases of an operation. Automation, robotics, combination/elimination of processes, team concepts, employee involvement, inventory/quality control, customer satisfaction, ergonomics, activity Based Costing, and many other areas are now roles filled by I.E.s.

Mission statement

ATIE has as its mission to always provide its members and hence the textile industry with the latest information on state-of-the-art manufacturing tools and techniques that will keep our industry competitive worldwide.

This the association does by conducting inquiries, research projects, conferences, and educational programs in any phase of the I.E. field necessary to enhance the knowledge, ability, and experience of its members. The association is operated exclusively for scientific, educational, and charitable purposes.
